Keynote speakers


    Hubert Vuagnat

    Certified senior fellow, European Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
    Born in 1961 in Geneva, Switzerland, Dr. Vuagnat completed his master's degree in medicine in 1989.
    After a few years of practice in general surgery, he discovered and trained in rehabilitation medicine and was Swiss and European boards certified in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in 1997 along with his doctorate from the University of Geneva.

    After various positions, including head of the medical rehabilitation department at the University Hospitals of Geneva, he decided to focus on wound care, where he had developed skills from the late nineties, and is at present attending physician to the wounds and woundhealing program in Geneva university hospitals.
    From the late 1990s and on he has been contributing to the institutional, transverse, management of these pathologies.

    He holds degrees from Sorbonne University, Paris, France, in wound care and also in neurourology.
    Co-founder of the Swiss Association for Wound Care, French-speaking section (SAfW-R) and president from2004 to 2014, he is currently also elected to the board of directors of the French-speaking and French wound care association (SFFPC) as well as of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA).

    Since 2006, he has been deeply involved in modern wound care and rehabilitation in resource-poor settings, believing that through education and minimal means, it is possible to improve the health and quality of life of many people. To this end, he is co-founder and general secretary of the World Alliance for Wound and Lymphedema Care (WAWLC), as well as co-founder and president of the Association de Soutien aux Centres de Recherche, d'Enseignement et de Soins (ASCRES), both based in Geneva.
    Since 2023 he his co-chair of the newly established WHO “skin health, woundcare and rehabilitation group”.

    For him, interdisciplinarity or interprofessionality are essential axes to cultivate to improve the care of patients and their relatives.
