Aydan Oral is currently a professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey, since 1996. She acted as the scientific chair of the 5th World Congress of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) in Istanbul in 2009. She is currently the Turkish delegate and national manager for the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine  (PRM) Section and Board as well as the Secretary General of the UEMS PRM Section & Board, Board Certification Secretary, Examination Committee Member, UEMS-CESMA delegate for PRM Section & Board, and Chairperson of Recertification of PRM Doctors. She is the chair of the Publication Working Area of Cochrane Rehabilitation.

She is one of the Associate Editors for the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. She has been publishing in peer-reviewed journals and lecturing in national and international scientific meetings on her areas of scientific interest.
