Marko Munih initially focused on functional electrical stimulation of the lower extremities of paraplegics with surface electrode systems, including measurements, control, biomechanics and electrical circuits. Followed research into the contact of robots with the environment, construction and the use of haptic interfaces in the fields of industry and rehabilitation technology, in combination with VR.
Research on physiological computing in connection with rehabilitation robotics had a particular influence. Specific research was carried out in robots for construction and robots in measuring tasks. Lately, attention directed into measurements of kinematics with inertial measurement units used in exoskeletons and prosthetic devices.
